Wednesday's What's New

Yesterday I was taking a self defence class for senior girls at our school. I believe that all girls and even guys should involve themselves with some form of self defense. Also, I've learned that it's not always about physical strength, but knowledge as well. Also, a strong sense of self confidence can help you scare off even the scariest of people!
Watch this for inspiration!

Friend Truce

Truce to resolve quarrelling:
Both parties agree to not bite, slap, kick, punch, mess with each other's keyboards, poke, turn off random electronics, steal phones or music devices, break pencils, read what is on the other's screen, insult the other's blog, stare at each other, laugh at the other's face, etc.
I hereby agree to these terms.<-- S.H.

Question Yourself.

What gets you through the school day?
Do you walk through the hallways singing? Humming? Do you think of the upcoming weekend?
Do you listen to music? Draw? Read? Write?
In the last ten minutes of a class what do you think of?
Is there a particular person on your mind?
Are you talking to anyone right now?
Have you laughed lately?
Loved lately?
Cared lately?
Just asking.

Survival of the Fittest. No Exception.

My one main guide for the survival of high school starts when it is already too late.
Things can possibly be reversed but it may be one of the hardest things to do, or the easiest.
It can also be permanent.
 What is it?

Hallways...

Traveling the hallways in high school isn't always Fun. Trust me.
Some things in the hallways I particularly dislike are:

Random people who stop in front of me.
People who step on my heels and don't even care to apologize.
People who stop to talk in the middle of the hallway.
People who are obnoxiously loud and rude.
People who get way to close and invade personal space.
People that look at my phone while I'm texting someone.
People who stop and listen to the conversation I'm having.
People who interrupt a conversation just to say hello.
People who trip or push others into me or in my direction.
People who run into me when I stop because of the person in front of me.
People with no volume control.

Wednesday's What's New!

I started to read Frozen Fire by Tim Bowler. Didn't get very far. So far chapter 6, but I don't think I'm going to be able to finish it. While reading the novel I wasn't exactly enthralled in it. After the amazing beginning, I felt that the connection between the main character and the reader wasn't a strong one, at least for me, and I couldn't continue after the main action. So, sorry readers. I will be returning the book and reviewing something that will be able to capture my attention long enough to blog on.

So until then, please enjoy this picture of a sorry puppy.

Zombie Movie Night?

Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image

Lately, I've been on a zombie flick kick.
Don't ask me why.
Anybody up for Zombie movie night?
What?
Does the idea of a rotting, bloody, disgusting corpse wanting to eat your brains bother you?

Oh, well I guess it could turn off a lot of people.

So, I suggest that before you ask that girl or guy of your dreams out, you get to know them first. Although some ladies would most likely never want to see your face again after a gruesome zombie filled night, others might not be able to keep their minds off of you!

Hey Dum-Dum! You Give Me Gum-Gum!

Rules to protect your precious gum supply from the ravenous species of high schoolers.

GUM brand gum by jonvoights_toe

1. Tell absolutely no one. Including friends.
2. Only get a piece when alone so no one sees.
3. If rule number two fails, then say it was your last piece.
4. Place your pack in hidden places, such as a hidden pocket.
5. Try not to make it obvious that you have some.
6. Don't get a strong mint flavored piece in a quiet classroom. The strong scent lingers.
7. Never ask other people for theirs. They will guilt you into sharing yours.
8. Say you took it from a sibling and don't want them to notice that it is missing.
9. Change the subject by saying "Oh, that reminds me..."
10. Buy a lot of extra packs.
11. Say "No, I hate you." then walk away.

Tweet Tweet!

I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I have a Twitter account. Although I proudly say that I don't use it to stalk celebrities, but instead follow friends and random funny people. I have to say that it has been more beneficial to me than Facebook. I know from experience that anything you say on Facebook will eventually get you in some kind of trouble. So in order to avoid aunts, uncles, parents, or even grandparents from judging, hating, embarrassing, or even just seeing what's on my mind, I've officially retreated to Twitter. I use a different identity entirely and only my friends know who I am, that way I can share thoughts, vent, or say anything else without the hassle of being judged.

Wednesday's What's New!

I'm going to continue my assessment of the novel Frozen Fire by Tim Bowler.
So far I've made it to chapter 6.

To start the book off, the author unleashed a great hook. It starts out with a phone call. On the line is a boy who not only is suicidal, but also knows too much about the "stranger" he called. How would you react to the caller if they knew stuff only a person who has been missing for over two years would know? Setting the main character Dusty off on a journey for more knowledge of the unknown boy, the reader is captivated. Great job, Tim Bowler!

Next week will contain more on this novel and hopefully my schedule will allow me some hardcore reading time.

My Love Advice (Highlight to Read Missing Words)

subway zombie! by Arachnarchy
Zombie
The world needs more people who want you for your brain rather than what contains it.
Don’t you think that would be pleasant?
Besides the whole dead thing it would be nice.
 No judgment, just acceptance.
 Or maybe it’s just a bad idea…

Happy Pi Day!!!

Pie For Pi Day, 2011

Happy Pi Day! What a wonderful day to celebrate math and pie at the same time! Today, my lovely (not sarcastic) teacher sent my class to the library to work on The Pi Day Challenge 2011. I suggest that you embark on the beautiful journey of trivia and challenges and follow this website to compete in the awesomeness of what is known as the Pi Day Challenge.

Ten Minutes

Well, there is ten minutes left in class so I am going to try a quick free write. Let's see how this goes.
Today, snow covered the ground early NO
I don't know what I plan to do about the weekend with weather like this. It seems so dismal and depressing that NO
Freewriting is hard to do, so I think that I will try later. NO
I am so glad it is Friday. Aren't you? YES

Statistics Class Blog

Earlier, while sitting in Statistics, my fun math class, I couldn't help but not to focus. Seeing how it's a Friday and a two hour delay day, I already started out with a short attention span. After daydreaming of what I wanted to do when I got home, I became completely lost in the math problem. No fun. So not only do I not know what we are doing in math, I also have to take the time to relearn the material instead of do what I was daydreaming about. Also, now I want to do fancy card tricks. Darn you short attention span. I guess a lesson I learned is to focus on math in Statistics class. Who would have known the answer was that simple?

Wednesday's What's New!

Frozen Fire by Tim Bowler
I just started reading this novel and thought to myself, I am no where near finishing it. So, I decided on reading parts of it at a time and then reporting my thoughts. This will be my first post pertaining to the book and to start it off I will tell you my impressions of the author.

My first impression was gained before even reading the first sentence. Reading two other of Tim Bowler's novels let me in on his writing style. First, he is British, so the wording is quite different at times. I suggest that before you read any of his writings, you look up common words used in British culture. Second, he is very descriptive, giving details of places and actions to help get a better perception of whats actual going on. While it can be good to have details, it can also leave the reader bored at times and skimming through the material to an interesting part, leaving out details. Since I already now his style, this book may have a different affect on me than it may have on someone with no experience with his writing.
Please visit next week when I start to really analyze the novel!

Injustice In the Lunch Line

Pie Pi by jwannie
It is hard to do the right thing about a given situation when you know nothing will change after all the effort you put in. Whether it involves things from ditching to stealing, it all depends on who the person committing the crime is, and that sometimes makes me not even want to try to right a wrong. Confronting the authorities so far hasn't been the best experiences for me, but if things get bad, might as well try right? So after an incident involving theft, I went to the superiors. It can be gratifying, but also a teeth grinding experience. Hearing the punishment through a laughing guilty party who says he will not participate in the allotted punishment, of course, irks me, but alas, it is at least known to some and documented. So I've learned that even though some situations weren't handled properly, others can be recorded and actually serve at least a little justice in an unfair society known as high school.

Dare?

Everybody loves a challenge. Let's see if you can compete with the best. So, out of the following,  post the number you have completed over what course of time. For example: 3 completed over 1 week. Let's see how everybody stacks up.
  • Talk to someone new.
  • Talk to someone you haven't talked to in over a year.
  • Compliment someone.
  • Cook for someone.
  • Answer a question in class.
  • Forgive someone who hurt you.
  • Give a present without a reason.
  • Listen to 5 new random songs.
There will be more in the future.
Do you think you will be able to handle them?

Wednesday's What's New

Wednesday - my favorite day of the week! Okay, not so much, but why not try to make it a little bit better for all of us? In honor of this mid-week day, I will be hard at work reviewing different books, video games, t.v shows, movies, etc., to report to you. I hope you choose to read them and maybe even try out some of the things that I recomend. I can only hope that they can make your week better! All in all, this is my day to show you what's on my mind and what I've been interested in. I hope you enjoy! Next week will be the first review, so please check back!
